2018 ASCAP Outstanding Revue Award

(New York City, February 7, 2018) — ASCAP, the performing rights organization and longtime sponsor of the Bistro Awards, annually gives its name to one of the Awards. This year, ASCAP has chosen the revue It Helps to Sing About It: Songs of Ben Schaechter & Dan Kael as the recipient of the ASCAP title in recognition of the songwriting team’s talent. This Bistro Award will  be designated the ASCAP Outstanding Revue Award.

Sara Louise Lazarus directed this production, which made its debut at the Metropolitan Room in September 2016 and returned for several performances in March and September 2017. In the cast were Celia Berk, Michael Bernardi, Nora Davis, Joshua Lance Dixon, Marissa Mulder, David Perlman, and Kelli Rabke.

Sherry Eaker has been the producer of the annual Bistro Awards since the awards’ inception in 1985. She is the former editor of "Back Stage" and, during her 30-year run, produced panel discussions and workshop events on an ongoing basis, including the programming for Back Stage’s annual Actorfest. She compiled and edited four editions of the "Back Stage Handbook for Performing Artists," and compiled and edited "The Cabaret Artists Handbook." She is a member of the National Theatre Conference and the American Theatre Critics Association (and produced eight of ATCA’s New York weekend conferences). She is an advisor to the boards of both the Manhattan Association of Cabarets and the Women in the Arts & Media Coalition.
