They Call Me Cuban Pete

Danny Bolero is being honored with a Bistro Award for his one-man show, They Call Me Cuban Pete. He made his Broadway debut in the 1993 revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, returned to Broadway in the Tony Award–winning In the Heights, and came back again for last year’s Plaza Suite, directed by John Benjamin Hickey and starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick. In 2018 he made his Public Theater debut as Manuel in the critically acclaimed Miss You Like Hell. Regional credits include American Mariachi, The Drowsy Chaperone, City of Angels, Nine, and Evita. For the past two years, he has been voicing the role of Abuelo on the PBS Kids animated series Alma’s Way, and he can be seen in Townhouse Confidential, streaming on a TV set near you. In 2022, Danny received an artist’s grant to write and produce They Call Me Cuban Pete, which celebrates  the music and genius of Desi Arnaz, directed by Madeline McCray and musically directed by Drew Wutke. Many thanks to Sherry Eaker, Margo, Velia La Garda, Coco Corona, everyone at CTG and Entertainment Lab management, and, as always, the Angels on my shoulder. www.dannybolero.net
